19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hard courts
A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his maiden trophy for over two years with success over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open final.
The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has endured a challenging year, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and undergoing a setback at the American major.
His unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serving in especial - caused him dropping out of the top ten and ultimately parting ways with long-time mentor Cervara.
Now working with his coach and his other coach, he has gradually improved in the recent weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set triumph over opponent Moutet.
It is his initial trophy after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hardcourt after that period of 2023.
The win also signifies Medvedev has achieved twenty-one championships at twenty-one distinct events.
"For the first time I have attended a competition with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a title is especially meaningful," said world number 14 the champion.
"This title is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the first title I won when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."
The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six finals, comprising in the German tournament previously this season.
His counter-punching play style and regular outbursts on court had led commentators to wonder if his capacity to play at the elite level was over.
However the athlete has made changes in the last few weeks, making an effort to come to the net and compete assertively, backed up by an improved serve.
The champion came back from a deficit in the first set against the challenging Frenchman, winning four of the last five points to gain the advantage.
Both players exchanged break points in the following set before Moutet, bidding for his first professional victory, gained dominance to force a final set.
Moutet defended four early-game break points in a competitive third set before the champion secured a break to 15 to secure the win.
Suitably, the winner secured the win with a rally at the net, with Moutet incapable to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
